Crayon Wings is a non-profit 501c3 founded by pediatrician and photographer Dr. Stephanie Pendergrass to better the lives of children through photography.  The goals of the organization are to:

1)   Create and promote empowering images of children.

2)   Combine photography with written narrative to increase community awareness on key issues affecting the health of children.  Current projects include photo documentary work on the US foster care system, and on chronic illness and disability in children, Future work is planned to highlight LGBT youth, girls and young women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and children who have recently immigrated to the United States.

3)   Provide photographic support for other entities vested in child welfare such as local area schools, local hospitals, and the New Mexico Department of Health and Human Services Child, Youth, and Families Department.

4)   Support the education of children in the photographic arts primarily through gifts of scholarships and equipment.

Crayon Wings aspires to the highest professional, ethical and legal standards in its work with children, including adherence to the UNICEF principles for ethical reporting on children.
